Hospice society roadshow stops in Strathmore
Fill up your tool box with tools that will help you and your loved ones in end-of-life situations. The Wheatland & Area Hospice Society in partnership with the Alberta Hospice Palliative Care Association will be hosting a roadshow which will stop in Strathmore on June 6.
Called 'A Mindful Finale: Spirituality and Ritual and End- of-Life', the full-day workshop aims to help people foster moments of gratitude and joy at a difficult phase in life.
It gives people practical rituals to help them through complicated issues. The workshop is catered towards caregivers, family members, community volunteers and healthcare professionals.
The keynote speakers include Darrin Parkin, Spiritual Care Co-ordinator at the Rosedale Hospice and Sage Centre of Hospice Calgary, and Blair Collins B.A., B.Th. RSW. Parkin has over 25 years of experience providing spiritual care in parishes, hospice and in prisons. Collins has over 30 years of experience in non-profit settings, dealing with grief and loss. He is a Hawaiian Shaman as well.
The event is hosted in Strathmore by the Wheatland & Area Hospice Society on June 6 at the Hope Community Church, which is located at 245 Brent Boulevard. There will be coffee at 8:30 a.m. with lunch included.
