Diary of a City Boy

Oh Rosebud you perfect little hamlet you, just when I think I'm beginning to understand what you're all about you go and throw an event like the 15 Minutes of Fame festival and completely blow my mind.

As I pulled up to main street the sound of great music was already echoing throughout the heart of this artsy little town, it was a

very surreal atmosphere.

A shining sun accompanied by a little prairie wind and about 200 people sharing in good company and good music can only begin to describe the atmosphere and the feeling of complete enjoyment I got through my attendance in this united audience.

I was introduced to some acts that I probably would have never heard before, such as the amazingly talented Justine Vandergrift whose melodic voice and gut-wrenchingly beautiful cover songs will linger in my memory for sometime, or the comedic troubadours and Rosebud's own Lewis & Royal whose blend of hilarious stories and dramatic folk balladry was something to behold.

But perhaps the thing that I will remember most about this perfect September day was the fact that I got to attend the festival with my

mother.

Hitting the highway together, sitting in on Calum Graham's virtuosic guitar playing or enjoying a hand-scooped ice-cream cone, it was as if I was transported back in time and I was a kid again.

I was attending a music fest with my mommy and we were laughing and sharing a good time together and it was all thanks to a quaint little festival with humble beginnings stretching back some seven years ago.

It was take your mom to work day, and we were in Rosebud enjoying some of the best talent that Alberta has to

offer.

It was absolutely amazing and my hat is off to you Rosebud. Thank you for the memories that I will always cherish of the day that I spent with my mother at the fantastic 15 Minutes of Fame festival.
