The Strathmore Rural Fire fighting Association is under investigation following the identification of issues during the last audit.

"The Board has not yet fully determined what years the issues occurred beyond 2011," said President Lou Degaldo in an email interview.

"We will not be in a position to provide further information until the review is completed."

According to Degaldo, issues were identified during a regular annual audit in April 2012.

A press release submitted by the Strathmore Rural Fire fighting Association (SRFA) states that the review "will be extensive and any irregularities identified will be addressed with appropriate actions taken to ensure all future transactions are recorded and accounted for according to generally accepted accounting principles, practices and procedures."

Once the review has been completed, a full report of its findings and any resulting actions will be made available to the public.

The same release claims the review will not affect the ability of the SRFA to provide continued fire protection services to Wheatland County residents.

The volunteer-run SRFA conducts operations out of the Strathmore Rural and Carseland fire halls. Its fire protection services extend to rural residents in the Strathmore, Carseland, Lyalta and Cheadle areas of Wheatland County.
