Grab your bibs and prepare to enjoy some grub, Strathmore has been chosen to host a BBQ to feed 2,000 people later this summer.

Although a date has not been set yet, Strathmore was in the top 10 for the PC BBQ Town contest, and after voting closed last week it was announced that the community will have a chance to get together and enjoy some good cooking.

For Traci Bednar Hopkins, who originally found out about the contest, this is a chance to really highlight what makes Strathmore special to her.

"I'm hoping that the community will get together and we'll get some events for the kids going," said Bednar Hopkins.

"I'm hoping that some people volunteer and make this a really special event."

She said she will happily spend some of her time making this possible.

The dates for the BBQs across Canada will be announced tomorrow, June 21.

"There's a special feeling in Strathmore," said Bednar Hopkins. "As soon as we know the dates, I'll be ready to share that with all 2,000 people."
